GOOGLE REMOVES THE FORMAT OF TEXT ADS ON GOOGLE ADSENSE

In order to modernize all advertising campaigns (Google product line => Google Ads, Google AdSense), Google is therefore withdrawing the functionality to create text-only ads on Google AdSense. The notification of the change in policy from the American giant reached site editors by email last week.
“We’re moving towards richer ad formats, phasing out text-only and display-only ad units to further improve user experience, and to fully reflect the pool of ads we have in the market.”
Within its interface, Google will therefore rename the “text ads only” and “display ads only” categories to “display ads” only.

GOOGLE ALSO ANNOUNCED OTHER NOVELTIES VIA THE EMAIL

Here is a summary of future changes sent to site editors:

  • All ad units will be “responsive” by default, although publishers can still create custom ad units if needed.
  • Publishers will no longer be able to create new styles for new ad units. The Google-powered AdSense text ad style will be applied to all new ad units.
  • Google removes the “If no ads available” option on Google AdSense and will instead reduce ad space or show empty space.
  • Google is removing outdated ad unit parameter testing. All experiments on ad units that are still active will end in the coming weeks.
  • The experience report in the “Reports” tab will also be deleted.
  • Changing the ad code type to synchronous mode from AdSense account settings will no longer be available.
Google communicates that it has invested heavily in understanding users’ needs in order to increase their interest in ads.

Presumably, these changes are designed to make the ads more engaging which can then drive more clicks and generate more revenue for AdSense publishers.
