HOW TO SET UP AN SEO STRATEGY?

seo strategy

In this article, we will show you how to set up a natural SEO strategy to position yourself in the natural search engine results over the long term.

Many businesses fail in  SEO  because they don’t have a formalized strategy. However, to achieve the best positions on Google and generate quality traffic, it is not enough to adopt the latest popular best practice. We need to adopt a clear guideline.

To do this, just follow these 6 steps.

STEP # 1: SET YOUR SEO GOALS

HOW TO SET YOUR GOALS?

The first step to progress in SEO is to set goals . But be careful, not just any old way!

A goal is not wishful thinking. For example, “I want my site to rank well” is not a goal.

To define goals that make sense and allow you to move forward, we recommend that you adopt the SMART method . SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound .

Again, “increasing organic traffic to my site” is not a SMART goal. It is not specific because it is vague and not encrypted. It is also not temporally defined. The corresponding SMART objective could be: “to increase organic traffic to my site by 40% within 6 months”.

The goal must also be achievable and realistic. For example, if you are starting a coaching activity in Paris, it seems unrealistic to set the goal: “to be in 1st Google position on the keyword” coach Paris “in 1 month”.

Finally, the objectives must be measurable so that you can assess your progress and adjust your action plan if necessary.

WHAT OBJECTIVES FOR YOUR NATURAL REFERENCING?

The purpose of SEO is to generate better traffic in quality and quantity.

For the quantity, we can set as an objective the growth of organic traffic . Quality traffic means that site visitors are converted into leads or customers. The qualitative objective could therefore be to increase the conversions of visitors from search engines.

To generate organic traffic, you must also position yourself in search engine results on a certain number of keywords. We can therefore assign objectives in this direction:  improvement of the position of the pages on the target keywords, quantity of keywords positioned on the first page of the SERPs .

To position yourself, the quality of the content is an essential criterion. However, 91% of existing content does not generate any organic traffic. We can work on an objective such as increasing the number of pages that generate traffic from Google .

. Improving the quantity of quality backlinks can therefore be retained as an SEO objective.

STEP # 2: FIND THE RIGHT KEYWORDS # 2: FIND THE RIGHT KEYWORDS

WHAT IS A GOOD KEYWORD?

To generate qualified traffic from search engines, we must position ourselves on strategic keywords for our activity.

Yes, but how do you choose your target keywords  ?

We will retain 3 criteria: relevance, accessibility and profitability.

First, we will seek to position ourselves on the keywords that interest our target customers. This means that upstream we must identify the problems of our target customers. For this, we can use the method of personas.

From these issues, we will look for how our target customers formulate their search engine queries and deduce a list of “raw” keywords. It remains to be seen whether these keywords are accessible. You have to find the right balance between keywords that present a certain search volume but are not too competitive either.

Third criterion: are the identified keywords profitable? If we are in the optics of generating conversions or carrying out transactions, we must bet on keywords that will encourage Internet users to take action.

HOW DO YOU FIND LONG TAIL KEYWORDS?

The keywords long tail present an interesting search volume without being too competitive. They therefore have a strong SEO potential.

To find them, several methods exist:

  • Be inspired by Google suggestions and associated searches;
  • Use the Answer The Public tool;
  • Use free or paid keyword generators or all-in-one SEO tools.
